Summer of the Arts continues the tradition of presenting a wide range of family-friendly movies at the 2017 Free Movie Series, presented by Urban Acres Real Estate and UICCU. The Free Movie Series kicks off its 13th year on June 10, 2017, with the 2016 sci-fi hit Star Trek Beyond and wraps up on August 26th with one of the biggest movies of 2016 – Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.  Movies take place on the University of Iowa Pentacrest outside of Macbride Hall. We are excited to again partner with Urban Acres Real Estate and UICCU on this year’s movies!

 

This summer features everything from classic hits to recent blockbusters. You’ll find comedy, drama, animated movies, music and more! Thanks to some great suggestions from the public, this should be a special year for our audiences.

Bring your blankets and lawn chairs to relax under the stars while enjoying a family-friendly film on a huge inflatable screen! All free of charge! Feature films begin at sundown so the start time varies as the days lengthen and shorten. Summer of the Arts builds community by bringing people together to experience, learn about, and enjoy the arts in the heart of Iowa City through free summer festivals: Iowa Arts Festival presented by Veridian Credit Union, Iowa City Jazz Festival, presented by the University of Iowa Community Credit Union, Friday Night Concert Series presented by Toyota-Scion of Iowa City, Free Movie Series presented by Urban Acres Real Estate and UICCU and Iowa Soul Festival.
